When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address, username, date of birth, and any profile information you choose to provide. We collect your date of birth solely to confirm that you meet our minimum age requirement of 18, and we retain it as a record that we performed that check. We may also collect information when you contact our support team.
We collect information about how you use Frontier, including the stories you create and play, your choices within interactive narratives, time spent in the app, and features you use. This helps us improve your experience and recommend content you might enjoy.
We may collect information about your device, including device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information. If you enable push notifications, we also store a push notification token for your device. This helps us optimize the app for your device, deliver notifications you opt into, and troubleshoot technical issues.
Messages you send to AI characters are automatically screened by a safety model before a character responds. This screening looks only for signs that you may be at risk of harming yourself, or that you intend serious harm to another real person. It is required by law in some jurisdictions, including New York and California. When the screening identifies a possible risk, we show you crisis resources, and we record that a detection occurred — including the date, the category, and a short explanation — so that we can demonstrate compliance and report anonymized totals to regulators where required. Fictional and dramatic content in your stories is not the target of this screening, and we do not use these records for advertising, profiling, or content recommendations.
When you buy Quills or an auto-renewable subscription, your payment is processed by the app store through which you purchased (the Apple App Store or Google Play) and our subscription provider, RevenueCat. These providers handle your payment details directly — we never receive or store your full credit card or banking information. We do receive and retain transaction records such as the products purchased, purchase and renewal dates, subscription status, and an anonymized purchase identifier, which we use to deliver your Quills, manage your subscription, provide support, and prevent fraud.

Frontier is intended for adults aged 18 and older and is not directed to children or teenagers. We collect a date of birth at registration in order to enforce this. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 (or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If we become aware that we have collected such information from someone below the applicable minimum age, we will take steps to delete it and terminate the account.
If you are accessing Frontier from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located.
